CURRENT STATE is the vision of Miami artist and curator Chris Oh, who has been at the forefront of the Miami arts and culture scene for the past two decades. Having been deeply entrenched in Miami’s rapidly-evolving cultural landscape, Oh and his contemporaries have set out to showcase the duality between the perceived support and prosperous culture of the arts in Miami and the true plight of the creative community. Presented in Little River // Miami, the group show will feature works by Miami-based artists Jim Drain, Nicolas Lobo, TYPOE and Michael Vazquez. The artists’ pieces will serve as a commentary on the current state of the Miami art scene as a whole, each depicting the extraordinary talent that shoulders the city’s creative core amongst a backdrop of one of the cities’ oldest yet often forgotten communities. Much like the show, the Little River neighborhood is an artistic gem that has yet to be fully uncovered. With many of the city’s well-known and respected artists having moved to Little River, CURRENT STATE will reveal today’s Miami and show signs of what is still yet to come.
